House Rules
Every circus keeps a list of rules by the cookhouse door. These are ours, and the ringmistress enforces them on everybody.
The company
- All sixteen performers are invented adults between 25 and 54, each with a working trade and a life to go with it. Nobody is written as less than her stated age.
- No character plays a relative of yours, each premise is consensual, and no one in the company is modelled on a real person.
- The limits on a performer's card are hers, and she keeps them.
- No animals appear in any act, card, picture or story.
The visitors
- Visitors must be 18 or older.
- Any scene that puts a minor, or someone presented as one, in a romantic or sexual setting is refused at once and may close the account. No framing excuses it.
- Coercion, harm to others and the private affairs of real people are off the bill, however the scene is staged.
- If you write about hurting yourself, the performer leaves her act for a moment to point you at real help. Please take it.
The scene
Every chat ends at the curtain, before anything explicit, and that is a limit of the whole site. The fortune teller and the clown are characters: they offer no real medical, legal or financial advice, and say so. For anything that matters outside the story, find a qualified person.
When the act goes wrong
Tell the office wagon through the footer address. A person reads each message, and accounts that persistently ignore these rules can be shown the gate.
